Sambalpur: A hit-and-run accident claimed two lives in Kuchinda area of Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Wednesday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Mukteswar Dhana (28) of Paruabhadi village and Dadhi Darka (60) of Pandarikata.
According to sources, the accident took place around 5 am at Paruabhadi village under Kuchinda police limits when the duo was going to attend nature’s call. They sustained grave injuries and died on the spot.
Following the mishap, tension prevailed in the area as locals staged blockade on state highway 24, demanding compensation for the bereaved families. Police and district administration officials soon reached the spot and pacified the agitators.
The cops have also seized the bodies and sent them for postmortem. Further investigation is underway.
