Bhadrak: Tension erupted at the district headquarters hospital in Odisha’s Bhadrak following death of a pregnant woman late on Sunday with her family accusing the authorities of medical negligence.
According to sources, Manjulata Ghadei (28) of Biridi was admitted to Agarpada Community Health Centre after she complained of labour pain. She was shifted to the DHH around 11.30 pm for better treatment.
Family members alleged that she was left unattended till 2 pm after being administered an injection on reaching the hospital. She was also taken to the OT but soon shifted back to the ward. Though her husband informed the doctors and nurses about her deteriorating health, they allegedly paid no heed to it.
The woman breathed her last at around 2.30 am.
Amid the commotion, police reached the hospital and tried to pacify the family members.
The hospital authorities are yet to issue a statement on the incident. CDMO Santosh Patra is expected to the arrive at the hospital soon to take stock of the matter.
