Tension At Jantar Mantar: Abhijeet Dipke Joins Hunger Strike, Woman Throws Ink At Him

New Delhi: Tension intensified at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar amid hospitalization of Sonam Wangchuk and Abhijeet Dipke joining the hunger strike on Saturday while alleging that he was being forcibly removed by the police from the site. “I am starting an indefinite hunger strike beginning right now,” Dipke mentioned on X, formerly known as Twitter. Meanwhile, a woman was detained for throwing ink on Dipke, reported Indian Express.

While Wangchuk was hospitalized at Safdarjung Hospital in compliance with Delhi High Court order due to his deteriorating health, Dipke alleged that he had been detained by Delhi Police.

The CJP founder also said he was denied entry at Jantar Mantar protest site. He had called for a peaceful nationwide strike in protest against the police action.

Wangchuk had also appealed to people across the country to join the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) proposed “Chalo Sansad” march on July 20. The climate activist from Ladakh has been demanding Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over the alleged NEET paper leak controversy.

The incident has triggered political reactions, with opposition leaders criticising the handling of the protest and questioning the police action against the demonstrators.
