Rourkela: Security was beefed up at National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Rourkela on Tuesday following a face-off between two groups of students.
According to sources, a group of students took out a rally in the city protesting against the attack on the students of Jawaharlal University (JNU) in Delhi. Later, they staged a sit-in dharna in front of the institute.
However, tension gripped the campus when another group of students arrived at the spot and opposed the dharna.
Sensing trouble, the NIT authorities informed the police who rushed to the institute and managed to pacify the students.
