Khurda: Tension ran high at Banapur hospital in Khurda district on Sunday after kin of a patient thrashed a doctor.
According to available information, Prashant Sahu of Khutapali village was brought to the hospital for treatment after he was electrocuted on coming in contact with a live electric wire. However, the doctors declared him dead at the hospital.
Irked over this, the relatives of the patient created a ruckus on the premises of the hospital and asked the doctors to refer him to another hospital claiming that he was alive.
Later, the situation took an ugly turn when the agitators allegedly thrashed a doctor forcing him to treat the patient.
On being informed about the incident, police rushed to the spot and managed to pacify the agitators.
Meanwhile, some employees of the hospital staged a dharna inside the hospital campus demanding immediate arrest of those accused of assaulting the doctor.
