Cuttack: Tension erupted during the Cuttack Zilla Parishad meeting on Sunday when BJP and BJD members got into a heated argument over progress of development works in the district.
According to sources, the members raised concerns over several projects involving, irrigation, drinking water, and other amenities.
BJP MLA from Mahanga started the meeting on a resenting note, accusing the previous BJD government of having failing to deliver on its promises. Following this, BJD members raised slogans and flung chairs inside the room, sources added.
“Different agendas were discussed. Since everyone was advising on accelerating works, there was some chaos, but no indiscipline,” Lok Sabha MP from Cuttack, Bhartruhari Mahtab, said.
According to Zilla Parishad Chairman Kishore Mishra of BJD, “There were conflicts throughout the conversation. It is natural to have disagreements over development projects.”
