Bhubaneswar: Tension erupted at Sikharchandi Vihar in Patia area of Odisha capital after a ‘Mo Bus’ hit a pedestrian while he was crossing the road, on Sunday evening.
The injured has been identified as Dandapani Reddy, a resident of Sikharchandi area. He has been admitted to a private hospital here for treatment.
According to sources, the bus was en route to Nandankanan from Master Canteen when it hit the victim, leaving him seriously injured. Irate locals detained the bus as the driver was trying to flee and vandalised it, alleging that he was driving the vehicle in an inebriated condition.
Several vehicles remained stranded, disrupting the traffic on both sides of the road, stretching from KIIT Square to Nandankanan.
On being informed, Infocity police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
The bus driver was detained for questioning, the sources added.
