Keonjhar: Tension prevailed at the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) mines at Suakati village in Keonjhar following the death of a truck driver in a road mishap in front of the OMC main gate on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Sanatan Sahu. He belongs to Tura village here.
According to sources, the accident took place when Sanatan was driving to the mining site for loading iron ores. A speeding four-wheeler coming from the opposite direction hit him when he was standing near his truck. He died on the spot.
On being informed, police reached the spot and sent the body to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for postmortem.
Many truck owners staged a protest and demanded Rs 10 lakh compensation for the deceased’s family members.
