Bengaluru: World’s most popular electric vehicle maker Tesla is reportedly in talks with the Karnataka government to set up a research centre in Bengaluru.

There could be a possible investment from Tesla, after a follow-up meeting where state officials will present a detailed proposal, media reports said.

If the deal goes through, then India will be the only other country outside the US to have a Tesla research centre.

Tesla has Gigafactory in Shanghai and is opening the 3rd one in Berlin soon.

It had started taking bookings of the Model 3 in India in 2016 but has not delivered them yet.
