New Delhi: India on Wednesday successfully test fired the nuclear capable Prithvi II missile in Balasore off Odisha coast.
The Prithvi II ballistic missile is capable of carrying 500 to 1,000 kg of warheads and is powered by liquid propulsion twin engines, defence sources said. It uses an advanced inertial guidance system with a manoeuvring trajectory to hit the target, they added.
The missile of 9 metre height was the first to have been developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) under Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme of India.
