Berhampur: The preparation is in full swing for the Silk City’s week-long festival of Buddhi Thakurani, popularly known as Thakurani Yatra scheduled to start on April 9.
The construction of the Asthai Mandir (temporary abode) of the Goddess in Desibehera Sahi is going on in full swing. The construction materials including sand, bricks and others were brought to the spot to build the mandap or the pedestal on Saturday.
Earlier, the frame of the Asthai Mandir was erected with bamboo. As per tradition, the bamboo was brought to the spot from tribal village Bikaspur near Banthapalli, said Patala Durga Prasad Desibehera who is considered as the father of Buddhi Thakurani and the chief organiser of the yatra.
Buddhi Thakurani is considered as the daughter of the Desi Behera and the deity stays with her father’s family during the entire Yatra period.
