London: A hydrogen-powered train recently travelled for the first time on Britain’s railway network.
Named the Hydroflex, the train made a 25-mile round trip in Warwickshire, reaching speeds of up to 50 mph, reported BBC News.
In the next phase, the hydrogen tanks, fuel cell and battery will be moved out of a carriage and stashed underneath the train. British Rail hopes to start passenger service by the end of 2021.
Germany showcased the world’s first hydrogen-powered zero-emission train recently.
