The Last Dance

Amid sweat and pant
Under blinding lights, and blazing dissonance
Hip swung, chest twisted
Feet tapped, hands twirled
Our last dance.

As it began
Love charred, lust baked
Bones broke, nerve snapped
Memory melted, tears toned
Yesterday is gone, tomorrow unknown.

In silence
Darkness descends,
Aquatic dollops
Trickles into the sinkhole,
Time to gather and say goodbye.

This one together is now past.
We shall walk, fight and live;
We shall dance
Our lone dance
On our way, in our trance.
