Cuttack: It is unbelievable but true that an Odisha man, who hails from Kankadajodi area of Cuttack district, has tied the knot thrice by claiming that he is a bachelor before each wedding.

The matter came to light after the third wedding of the accused Arabinda Sahoo on February 28. The third bride of the acuused who is a resident of Badhigaon village in Boudh district became suspicious when she was not allowed to move out of the house after the wedding. The girl immediately informed her family members, who lodged a complaint against Sahoo.

Speaking about the incident, the victim said, “I lodged a complaint after coming to know that I have been cheated by him. There was no reception ceremony at his place and no decorations and rituals were conducted. I was not even allowed to go outside.”

According to the victim, the accused had already married twice. His other two brides were from Bhubaneswar and Kankadajodi.

Arabinda’s brother-in-law Santosh Sahoo was also involved in the crime. After being intimated, police detained Santosh and the victim has been rescued from the clutches of the miscreants. However, the main accused is still at large. Police has also seized all the gift items given by the bride’s family at the time of marriage.
