Baripada: A theft accused allegedly attacked the inspector in-charge (IIC), Mini Bhoi, with a sharp blade during his interrogation inside Bisoi police station in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Friday evening.
According to sources, the accused, Susant Deo, was asked to come to the police station in connection with a theft at the local Shiv temple on October 16. He reached around 7 pm. He confessed to the crime and also named the other accused during the questioning.
Susant then suddenly pounced on her with a sharp blade. She suffered injuries in the neck and left hand and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
While the reason behind the attack is not yet clear, Susant has been detained. A case under relevant sections of the IPC has also been registered and investigation is underway.
