Bhubaneswar: As Odisha continues to report more than 1,000 fresh COVID-19 cases daily since July 21, it seems the spread of the virus is at its peak in the state and Ganjam and Khurda districts alone accounted for nearly 3000 active cases each so far.
As many as 42,550 coronavirus cases were detected and 247 deaths reported till date from Odisha. In the first seven days of August, 10,673 cases have been found and 70 people succumbed to the virus infection during the period.
After the detection of the highest 1833 new COVID-19 cases from Odisha on Friday, Khurda district with 298 fresh cases overtook Ganjam with 278 cases. After the recovery of 700 cases in Ganjam and 202 in Khurda, now the active cases in Ganjam district is 2617 while Khurda district has 2973 under-treatment patients.
It has been witnessed that the COVID-19 infection tally in Khurda is gradually rising and it reported a record 312 positive cases on July 28. Since August 1, over 200 cases have been reported from the district on a daily basis.
