Baleshwar: An ATM was uprooted by miscreants in Khaira area of Odisha’s Baleshwar district in the early hours of Saturday.
According to preliminary information, the inciden
t took place around 2.30 am when five unidentified persons allegedly used an SUV to pull out the ATM at Tudigadia Chhak under the jurisdiction of Khaira Police Station before abandoning it a short distance away.
The miscreants tied the ATM machine to the rear of their vehicle using a rope and dragged it out of the kiosk. They then hauled the machine along the road before leaving it and fleeing the spot.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed near the ATM kiosk. Police are examining the footage to identify the vehicle and trace the accused involved in the theft attempt.
It was immediately known any cash was stolen from the machine.
After receiving information, police visited the spot and launched an investigation. The cash position in the machine was being verified by the bank officials.
