Thieves Who Shit In Houses After Stealing Held For 49th Time In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police have arrested two history-sheeters who have a weird habit of defecating in houses after burgling them.

Interestingly, the accused — Niranjan Swain alias Nanda (42) and Satrughna Swain alias Nalu (35) — have been arrested 48 times earlier for burglaries and petty theft.

Police said the two were arrested on Monday for theft and 70 grams of stolen gold, 150 grams of silver ornaments and two stolen motorcycles were seized from them.

Another person, identified as Sukanta Sahu of Konark, has been arrested for allegedly receiving and selling their loot.

Police said Nanda and Nalu, who are related to each other, were last arrested on January 14, 2016. They were then lodged in jail for nearly 7 months.

The two are natives of Astaranga, Puri and have been active since 2001. Sometimes, they also assaulted house owners and molested women while striking a house for theft, police said.
