The contest was organised by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). This contest was introduced in June 2020 on the fifth death anniversary of former India president DR APJ Abdul Kalam with an aim to achieve the purpose of “Atma Nirbhar Bharat”.
The DRDO held the contest virtually on March 23 and the results were announced on Monday.
The five-member team included Prasenjit Ghose and Suparna Biswal from the pre-final year and Saharsh Panda, Punyaslok Swain and Jyotsana Kumari Gupta from the second year.
Their project HIMMAT (Human Identification Model Artificially Trained) was on the basis of the problem statement, “Artificial Intelligence-based detection of a person based on physiological parameters”.
