Hollywood: Actor and filmmaker James Morosini (31) has revealed that he was once catfished — the ‘pretty woman’ he was dating on Facebook turned out to be his own father.
The woman, ‘Becca’, turned out to be his father, with whom he had cut all ties.
The real-life story is the inspiration behind Morosini’s film I Love My Dad, which debuted at SXSW Film Festival, according to Daily Mail.
The incident took place when he was 20 years old.
“I discovered that it was my dad. He had basically created this whole profile as a way of making sure that I was okay,” he said.
Catfishing, in online slang, means creating a fake identity online to deceive another person.
