Bhubaneswar: Two stretches at Siripur in the Odisha capital were declared as containment zones on Saturday after detection of nine COVID-19 cases in Laxmi Bazar Basti.
CONTAINMENT ZONES
i. From Trinath Temple Chawk to Airport Boundary
ii. From Airport Boundary to Trinath Mandira Chawk via the houses of Gangadhar Das and Manoranjan Pradhan.
“A person in Laxmi Bazar Basti with travel history to a hotspot district had tested positive for the virus on June 17. During contact tracing and surveillance, eight more persons were found to have contracted the infection. To contain further spread of COVID-19, it is necessary to restrict the entry of people into the affected area by declaring it as a containment zone,” said Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary.

Zonal Deputy Commissioner( South West) has been directed to seal every entry and exit points of the containment zone with the help of police and make security arrangement at each points to check the entry/exit of public. Quarantine stickers are to be fixed in front of all houses under the containment zone.
The Commissioner further said that all the inhabitants within the containment zone will strictly remain at home. All the shopping establishment will be closed immediately, along with government and private Institutions located within the boundary of the containment zone. The BMC will ensure supply of essentials/medicines in the containment zones. The inhabitants can call
helpline no 1929 for any requirements/complaints.
