Balangir: A cop has been suspended for allegedly stealing goats of a villager and killing them for a New Year feast.
Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Suman Mallick, posted at Sindhikela police station in the district, along with some friends allegedly stole two goats belonging to Sankirtana Guru and killed the animals for a feast.
Guru’s family members and some other villagers saw Mallick and his friends allegedly kill the goats. When they objected, Mallick allegedly threatened them.
“We are poor people and the goats were the source of our livelihood. The cop stole the animals and killed them. We are helpless now,” Guru said.
Meanwhile, hundreds of villagers gheraoed the Sindhikela police station demanding strict action against the cop.
