Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan’s Met Gala debut in 2025 left his fans red-faced after foreign media failed to recognise the Badshah of Bollywood and snubbed him.
Ironically, during a speech at Yale University in 2012, Shah Rukh had said that he visits the US whenever he starts feeling arrogant.
“We were detained at the airport for an hour and a half. It was nice and it always happens. It’s nice, you know — whenever I start getting too arrogant about myself, I always take a trip to America,” Shah Rukh explained how the US humbles him.
He further shared, “Yeah. The immigration guys kick the star out of stardom. But I have my small victories. They always ask me how tall I am and I always lie and get away—five feet ten inches. Next time I’m going to be more adventurous. What colour are you? I am going to say white.”
Met Gala 2025 was hosted by Ego Nwodim and Teyana Taylor.
In the event, which was livestreamed by Vogue, both hosts seemed to be unaware of Shah Rukh’s stardom while interviewing the guests.
Eventually, designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee had to step in and educate the hosts live on air.
On the work front, Shah Rukh will next be seen in Siddharth Anand’s ‘King.’
The film will also feature Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan in key roles.
