This Odisha Dist Extends Quarantine At TMCs To 14 Days

Sundargarh: In order to avoid exposure to corona positive cases at community level, Sundargarh district administration on Saturday decided to raise the quarantine period at temporary medical centres (TMCs) from seven days to 14 days.

The mandatory quarantine period of the returned migrants accommodated in institutional facilities in rural areas was seven days. But it was observed that some inmates of TMCs tested corona positive even after completion of seven days of mandatory quarantine period, Sundargarh Collector Nikhil Pavan Kalyan said in an order.

Since it may lead to community spread of the virus, the administration has decided to extend the quarantine period to 14 days, the order stated.

Earlier in the day, the Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) stopped home quarantine option for those coming from the hotspot districts of the state and made institutional quarantine mandatory for them.

The district has registered total 256 corona positive cases while 176 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the disease till date.
