Bhubaneswar: A day after announcing night curfew from March 23 to 31 amid COVID-19 resurgence fear, Malkangiri Collector on Tuesday made seven-day home isolation mandatory for people coming to the district from other states.
In a fresh order, Collector Yeddula Vijay said, “All persons, who are coming to the district from other states have to undergo compulsory home isolation for seven days. Anganwadi workers, panchayat executive officers, (PEOs), sarpanchs have been directed to collect the travel history of returnees and maintain a database.”
Besides, all heads of state and central government offices have been asked to furnish information on their travel history in advance, before leaving headquarters, to the nodal officer.

The district administration has also prohibited large gatherings and congregations. Marriage, funeral, last rites related gatherings, social, religious, political, sports, entertainment and cultural functions will be allowed with a ceiling of 200 persons. In closed spaces, a maximum of 50 per cent of the hall capacity will be allowed subject to the above ceiling. Wearing of masks, maintaining social distancing and provision of thermal scanning and use of hand wash or sanitiser will be mandatory.
Permission for such functions/gatherings will be accorded by tehsildar-cum-executive magistrates of their respective jurisdiction.
The Collector has also asked the chief district medical and public health officer to set up a dedicated fever clinic at DHH, Malkangiri, Kalimela and Mathili for patients with influenza-like infection, severe acute respiratory infection and Covid-19 like symptoms. Besides, the CDMO has been asked to enhance the RT-PCR and antigen tests.
Malkangiri has no active COVID-19 cases currently and no new infections have been reported in the last two days.
