This Odisha Districts Prepares For Possible ‘Second Wave’ Of COVID With Mega Health Screening

Berhampur: A mega health screening will be launched in Odisha’s Ganjam district from November 1.

“A postcard-size sticker will be pasted on the wall of every house mentioning the detailed data of the family. Not a single house be overlooked,” said Ganjam Collector Vijay Amrit Kulange.

Teams consisting of teachers, ASHA and Anganwadi workers will conduct the screening, he said.

Kulange also warned the district level officers of a possible second wave of COVID-19 during the winter season, during a video conference.

If the people become complacent, a second wave of the COVID-19 can’t be ruled out, he said.

“The number of COVID patients is increasing in MKCG Hospital and we have to find the root cause of it. Public awareness programme must be intensified and ‘Ama Swasthya Ama Daitwa’ programme has to be further strengthened. Cycle rally, Zoom meeting, ‘Pancha Sutri’ guideline, supply of kits to the patients in home isolation, contact tracing of the COVID positive patients and others have to be intensified. Mask Checkpoints will be opened at various places to ensure that every person wears a mask. The sub collectors would act as the nodal officers,” the collector said.

More focus would be on Berhampur Silk City and the Commissioner Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) has been asked to maintain a strict vigil over COVID-19 management, he added.
