Bhubaneswar: Health Minister Naba Kishore Das is grabbing headlines after disclosure of his assets on the Odisha government website.
Besides cash worth Rs 32 lakh, Rs 1 crore bank deposits and a fixed deposit of over Rs 2 crore, he owns two revolvers and a rifle.
The statement of assets further reveals that he owns a fleet of vehicles, including Mercedes Benz, Audi, Jaguar and Tata Hydra.
When grilled by mediapersons over his gun licence, the Minister on Wednesday said he got the all-India licence in 1984. “I fancy guns and got the licence when I was a student. It is not for protection,” he said.
Das further said that he bought houses in Delhi and Bhubaneswar before becoming an MLA.
He said assets are bound to increase over the years due to appreciation in real estate prices and so the worth of business. “We do business for profit and not for loss,” he added.
