Berhampur: Aska police station in Odisha’s Ganjam district featured among the best three in the country picked by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in the Annual Ranking of Police Stations for the year 2022.
Joint Director & Conference Secretary of Intelligence Bureau, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Tarun Kumar wrote to Odisha DGP Sunil Kumar Bansal on January 2 stating that the Union Home Minister will personally hand over the Trophy to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Aska PS Prashant Kumar Sahoo on January 20, 2023, at National Agriculture Science Complex, PUSA Campus, New Delhi, during the DGsP/IGsP Conference 2022.
He asked DGP Bansal to direct the SHO to be present in uniform with a cross belt at the Conference venue by 1 pm on January 19 for rehearsal in the afternoon and to receive the Trophy on January 20.
Notably, Aska police station had bagged the first spot in the state in overall performance till December 26 in 2022 after Pragati dashboard, developed by the state crime records bureau, was introduced last year to rank the police stations on their performances in aspects like solving of grievances of the people, the pendency of cases, detection and solving of cases, rate of conviction and filing of chargesheets. Aska got 94.54% on the Pragati dashboard.
It is for the second consecutive year that a police station in Ganjam district has featured among the top 3. Gangapur police station won this tag in 2021.
