Bhubaneswar: The road between the twin caves of Khandagiri and Udaygiri in Bhubaneswar will be closed for vehicular movement from Thursday to facilitate the movement of tourists to the popular tourist site.
According to sources, a new parking norm will come into force in the area for people visiting the site protected by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The earlier parking plan is being withdrawn from Thursday.
The tourist buses can be parked at the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) site and those coming in personal vehicles can park them in an adjacent ASI parking spot.
“The decision has been taken keeping in mind the tourists who visit the site in large numbers. With the closure of the road, visitors can comfortably move around both the caves,” TOI reported Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) additional commissioner Binay Das as saying.
Meanwhile, the visitors welcomed the move to close the stretch between the caves for vehicular movement.
