Jharsuguda: In order to spread a message on healthy lifestyle, a senior citizen went on a padyatra from here to New Delhi.
64-year-old Abhiram Satpathy of Durlaga village in the district walked for 2,544 km in three months. He started the padyatra on January 6 from here and reached Delhi on March 26.
Carrying a message, “Say no to alcohol and do exercise regularly”, Abhiram first went to Puri where he reached on January 22. On the way, he stopped at Bhubaneswar and submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Then he started his journey from Puri on January 24 and reached Delhi on March 26. He submitted memorandum at Rashtrapati Bhavan and Prime Minister’s office on his message. He walked through Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Haryana to arrive at Delhi.
After a three-month padyatra, Abhiram returned in flight on Monday. He was felicitated by many organisations at Jharsuguda.
Abhiram said he was an asthma patient for some years. As medical treatment failed to cure him, he started walking and doing exercise daily. It did wonders for him as he completely got cured of the asthma problem. Later, he even participated in many marathons.
