This Superstar Wanted To Marry Sridevi, But Got A Bad Sign When He Went To Propose

Mumbai: Late Bollywood actress Sridevi ruled the hearts of millions with her ravishing beauty and charismatic personality.

Several actors from the industry desired to marry her, but filmmaker Boney Kapoor was the lucky man she chose.

One of the actors who was heads over heels in love with Sridevi was superstar Rajinikanth.

Sridevi and Rajinikanth worked together in many films, and the latter fell in love with her.

It was during the shooting of Tamil film ‘Moondru Mudichu’ in 1976 that Rajinikanth wanted to propose to Sridevi. However, due to an inauspicious incident, the actor held back his emotions and never managed to pop the question.

In an old interview, writer and director K. Balachander shared that Sridevi was much younger than Rajinikanth and hence, he took special care of her.

Sridevi and Rajinikanth’s mother also shared a good bond. When Rajinikanth fell ill, Sridevi observed a seven-day fast for his good health.

Balachander revealed that Rajinikanth once did muster courage to propose to Sridevi. But when he was at her home, the lights went off and he considered it as a bad sign and backed out.

Thereafter, Rajinikanth kept his feelings for Sridevi within himself.
