Bhubaneswar: Over 10, 000 youths gathered at Chandrabhaga sea beach on Sunday and pledged before the rising Sun to work towards the development of Odisha.
At the event named ‘Nua Odisha Nirmana Abhijan’ inaugurated by Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the oath was administered before sunrise by Upendra Maharana, the successor of Bisu Maharana and Dharmapada, craftsmen who built the historic Konark temple.
Speaking on the occasion, Dharmendra called upon the people, especially youths to work for the overall development the state and fulfil the dreams of the great heroes of Odisha. He said, “I took pledge to make Odisha malnutrition-free, keep my village and city clean and actively participate in sports.”
The event was organised under the banner of Prachi Trust, a social organisation on the occasion of Utkal Dibasa.
