Mumbai: Mumbai Police swung into action immediately after Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan received a threat call demanding Rs 50 lakh.
During the investigation, police traced the number, from which the threat call was made, to advocate Faizan Khan of Raipur.
However, on interrogating Faizan, the cops learnt that his phone was stolen on November 2, three days before the threat call was made to Shah Rukh.
The advocate claimed his innocence by stating that he has also lodged a police complaint for his missing phone.
“My phone was lost; I had already filed a complaint. Today, Mumbai police came to my house and asked about the call. I told them that ‘I am an advocate, my phone was lost, and who made the call I don’t know’,” Faizan told India Today.
The advocate further revealed that years ago, he had filed a complaint against Shah Rukh for promoting enmity among religious groups and therefore, he is now being framed in the threat call case.
Faizan said that in the 1994 Shah Rukh-starrer ‘Anjaam,’ the actor referred to a dead deer in a dialogue. As Faizan has friends from Bishnoi community, he had sought a ban on the movie alleging that it would hurt their religious sentiments.
“I have a lot of friends from the Bishnoi community. They have 29 principles, including one that forbids the killing of a deer. As such, if a Muslim man makes such a comment, it can incite disharmony between two communities. That is why I had filed a complaint and sought a ban on the film and an FIR to be registered,” recalled Faizan.
The advocate also said that he was in the court when the threat call was made to the actor.
The miscreant who made the call to Shah Rukh told cops that he was a ‘Hindustani.’
A social media user took to his Instagram handle and shared a video clip from ‘Anjaam’, where Shah Rukh is heard ordering his servant to cook and relish the meat of the deer which he had hunted down.
The user captioned the video as: “SRK did the biopic of Salman Bhai years ago.”
