New Delhi: After a threat letter was issued to Salman Khan and his father Salim Khan, Delhi Police on Monday interrogated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in Tihar jail.
Bishnoi is currently in the custody of Delhi Police’s Special Cell as his role in the killing of Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moosewala is being investigated.
A hand-written letter was found on Sunday on a bench where Salim normally seats after jogging in the morning. The initials ‘LB’ were written at the end of the threat letter, ANI reported quoting police sources. Hence, Bishnoi is being questioned .
Maharashtra Home department has tightened security around Salman and his father after Bandra police registered a case against unknown persons.
A team of Mumbai Police, led by Joint Commissioner of Police Vishwas Nangre-Patil, went to Salman’s residence as part of its investigation into the threat letter.
Police are also examining CCTV footage of the area for clues and further leads on the threat letter.
Bishnoi and his gang had threatened Salman in 2018 in the blackbuck poaching case. The Bollywood superstar was convicted and sentenced to five-year imprisonment and is currently out on bail.
According to an exclusive India Today report, Bishnoi had revealed during interrogation that he’d asked Rajasthan-based gangster Sampat Nehra to kill Salman in 2021. According to the interrogation report, accessed by India Today, Nehra couldn’t get a clear shot at Salman from a distance as he had a pistol only. Bishnoi then ordered a rifle through a man identified as Dinesh Fauji. Police then traced the rifle to Fauji and arrested him.
