Three Accidents Claim 4 Lives In Kataka, Puri & Khordha Within 24 Hours



Bhubaneswar: Three separate accidents claimed four lives within the last 24 hours in Kataka, Puri and Khordha districts of Odisha.

On Tuesday morning, a head-on collision between a Hyva truck and a car on Trisulia Bridge over Kathajodi river in Cuttack resulted in the death of the car driver, identified as Ajay Sahoo. The impact was so severe that Sahoo was declared dead at the scene. Reports indicate the Hyva truck driver fled the spot immediately after the


crash. Baranga Police rushed to the location, seized the truck, and launched an investigation to trace the absconding driver and determine the exact cause of the accident.

In a separate incident on the Puri-Konark road, a court escort vehicle ran over a motorcycle at Baliguali Junction. Kuna Behera died, while his co-rider Sujit Sahu sustained critical injuries. Both were traveling toward Konark when the accident occurred.

Late Monday night, another tragedy struck on National Highway-57 near Dighiri under Bolgarh police limits in Khordha district. Two brothers, Akash Pradhan and Bikash Pradhan from Dighiri village, lost their lives when their speeding motorcycle rammed into the rear of a stationary truck that had broken down and was parked on the highway. The brothers were returning home and suffered fatal head injuries in the crash with the truck’s trolley. They were rushed to hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival. The truck driver was reportedly absent from the scene. Police have seized the motorcycle and the truck and efforts are underway to trace the missing driver.
