Jeypore: Three persons have been arrested for allegedly harassing and looting couples near Chikapar Shiva temple in Semiliguda block in Odisha’s Koraput district.
Those arrested have been identified as Dhuniya Machalipadia, Sanjaya Kadam and Ghenu Mach of Chikapar village
According to police sources, the accused detained a youth and his girlfriend while they were returning home at Nandapur on a two-wheeler after visiting the Shiva temple on Friday and demanded Rs 5,000. When the couple refused, they physically harassed the girl and forcibly took away their cell phones, Rs 1,070 in cash and the two-wheeler.
The victims reported the matter to Sunabeda police and lodged a complaint. The accused were nabbed on Saturday and the stolen cash, mobile phones and the two-wheeler have been seized from their possession.
