Three Arrested In Mayurbhanj Kangaroo Court Head-Tonsure Case

Mayurbhanj: Three people have been arrested after a resident of Mandua village in Mayurbhanj district complained that she and her friend had been assaulted, wrongfully restrained and intimidated by residents of Mandua village and nearby areas.

A case in this regard had been registered by Karanjia police station in Mayurbhanj district on Monday. Sources said the girl’s boyfriend had come to meet her in her village but when residents got to know that he belonged to another community, they caught hold of them and forcibly tonsured their heads. In a video that went viral even women were seen thrashing the girl.

On the basis of the girl’s complaint, the police have arrested three main accused and taken preventive steps to maintain peace and harmony in the area. The police are investigating the case and are on the lookout for the accused. They are also taking steps to maintain peace in the area.
