Berhampur: In a major breakthrough in the Polasara minor girl gang rape case, the Kabisuryanagar police of Ganjam district on Wednesday arrested the three accused.
They will be produced in the court later in the day, informed SP (Ganjam) Brijesh Kumar Ray.
The minor rape survivor is currently undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital here.
On October 31 night, the minor girl was allegedly gang-raped at Balisahi under Polsara block in the district.
According to the sources, three miscreants entered a person’s house late in night with the intention to steal. After looting the house, they took a minor girl of the family to a nearby field and allegedly gang-raped her. The family members were fast asleep at the time of the incident.
They rushed to the spot after hearing her scream for help. She was rushed to Polsara hospital and later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur as her condition deteriorated.
Earlier, the cops had detained eight suspects and released sketches of the other suspects.
