Cuttack: The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) on Thursday sealed three bakery factories in Sikharpur area of the city for manufacturing and marketing spurious products.
Following information about illegal activities of the bakeries, the officials of the Health wing of the CMC conducted raids on the factories. During the raids, the owners of the bakeries could not produce any document for manufacturing their products.
Pratikshya Dasmohapatra, a health official of the CMC said the factories did not have any licence from the authorities to prepare the food products. Besides, they were selling those without any brand names and using stale breads and biscuits, she added.
The officials also came to know that the factories were using eggs in preparing the products and selling those as egg-less items.
The CMC officials seized samples of bakery products manufactured by these units and sent those to the State Food Testing Laboratory at Bhubaneswar for testing.
