Paralakhemundi: Three brothers died of suffocation inside an underground chamber in their house at Birikot village in Adaba of Odisha’s Gajapati district on Friday night.
The deceased were identified as Bipra Majhi, Sanjib Majhi and Jitu Majhi.
According to police sources, Bipra had gone to a six-feet underground chamber inside his house at about 8 pm to keep some household articles. As he did not come out, his two brothers went inside the underground chamber.
But as they did not return, their sister raised alarm. Later, the family members brought the three brothers out of the chamber with the help of a rope and rushed them to the primary health centre (PHC) at Birikot and later to the community health centre (CHC) at Mohana where the doctors pronounced them as brought dead.
Police said the death of the three brothers was due to suffocation. The bodies will be handed over to the family members after post-mortem on Saturday.
