Three Coaches Of Chennai-New Jalpaiguri Express Derail Near Jakhapura In Odisha



Bhubaneswar: The Chennai-New Jalpaiguri Express train derailed on Thursday morning near Jakhapura railway station in Odisha’s Jajpur district.

According to East Coast Railway (ECoR), the incident occurred at around 8.51 am while the train was passing through Jakhapura Yard (JKPR). One AC coach and two General coaches derailed within yard limits. The train was moving at a ve

ry slow speed at the time of the incident, it noted.

The ECoR further stated that there has been no loss of life or injury to passengers. “Affected passengers are being suitably accommodated, and the affected coaches are being detached. To ensure passenger convenience, additional coaches will be attached to the train as required.”

It clarified that the derailment did not affect passenger train operations.

“Accident Relief Train (ART) from Bhubaneswar and Khurda Road and Accident Relief Medical Equipment (ARME) from Khurda Road were promptly dispatched at 8.53 am. Senior railway officials are present at the site and are closely monitoring restoration and safety related activities,” it added.
