Three College Students Drown In Odisha’s Kolab Reservoir

Koraput: In a tragic incident, three students of Koraput Government College drowned in the Upper Kolab reservoir on Saturday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Manmath Samal of Koraput and Sandip Pujari and Ramakant Patnaik of Malkangiri.

According to sources, seven Plus III Science students, including three girls, left their college at 11 am for Upper Kolab Reservoir to celebrate the birthday of one of the classmates.

Three students decided to take a bath in the resorvior and slipped into the deep waters.Following which, the four other students shouted for help. Some locals present near the reservoir informed the Fire brigade, who rushed to the spot and rescued them. They were then taken to the Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital, but the doctors there pronounced them as brought dead.

There was no reaction from the college authorities on whether the seven students had left the college with prior permission.

Meanwhile, the Town Police have begun an investigation into the incident.
