Bhubaneswar: Amid the prevailing sultry weather condition along with thunderstorm activity, Odisha is likely to experience three heatwave days next week, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Sunday.
According to the midday bulletin, hot and humid conditions may continue to prevail at isolated places in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati till April 23. There is also a warning for warm nights in Balangir and Sambalpur districts on April 19-20 and Sundargarh, Balangir and Sambalpur on April 21.
The state may experience heatwave conditions from April 21-23. Warning has been issued for Samb
alpur, Jharsuguda, Balangir and Sundargarh districts on April 21-22 and Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Balangir, Sundargarh , Kalahandi, Bargarh and Nuapada on April 23. During this period, the mercury may touch 45°C in Sonepur, Balangir, Titlagarh (Balangir), Bhawanipatna, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Nuapada, Sundargarh and Rourkela (Sundargarh). The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack may also record a day temperature of 40°C.
The weather agency has also warned of thunderstorm activity with wind speed of 30-40 kmph at one or two places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal on April 19; Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput and Kandhamal on April 20; Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal and Malkangiri on April 21, and Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri on April 22-23.
While there is no warning thereafter, light to Moderate rain or thunderstorms may occur at one or two places in the districts of Koraput and Malkangiri.
