Soro/Cuttack/Balangir: Two persons were killed and eight others sustained grievous injuries in separate road accidents in Balasore, Cuttack and Balangir districts on Thursday.
In Balasore, Rabindra Hansda and Basua Hansda died after a pickup van in which they were travelling skidded off the road and fell into a river near Gudupahi in Chandipur.
Those injured, including a minor boy Rama Marandi (12), were admitted to the district headquarters hospital for treatment.
Similarly, a person was killed after his motorcycle dashed against a roadside electric pole near Ankula petrol pump under Athagarh police limits in Cuttack district.
The mishap took place when the biker lost control over his two-wheeler due to over-speeding.
In another incident, three people were injured when the SUV carrying them hit a tree near Andharabandha under Bangomunda police limits in Balangir district.
The victims were rescued by locals and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
