Rourkela/Cuttack: Three persons died in road mishaps at different places in Odisha on Saturday. In the first incident, two school students were killed at Fertiliser Township in Rourkela on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as Harish Chandra Murmu and Soumya Ranjan Patra, students of Ispat English Medium School in Rourkela.
The incident took place, when they were returning home from the Republic Day parade. A Tata Ace hit them near Fertiliser Township killing them on the spot. The driver of the vehicle managed to flee from the spot.
Irate locals blocked a road demanding compensation for the kin of the deceased. On being informed, police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
In the second incident, Bika Bhoi of Khandiadanda village of Niali in Cuttack district died after a bike hit him while he was crossing the road near his village. He was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, where he died later. Angry locals blocked the Cuttack-Niali road demanding immediate arrest of the accused and compensation for the deceased’s family.
