Sambalpur: Three persons were killed on Monday after a container truck collided head-on with a motorcycle and went up in flames on National Highway 53 in Odisha’s Sambalpur district.
According to sources, the accident occurred at Pithamaren under Jama
nkira police limits in Kuchinda. The impact was so severe that the motorcycle got trapped under the wheels of the container truck. All three riders, whose identity is yet to be known, died on the spot.
Soon after the accident, the bike caught fire which spread to the container truck. While the bike was completely gutted, the fire badly damaged the front portion of the truck. Fire Service personnel reached the site and doused the flames. Traffic was temporarily disrupted on the stretch.
While the bodies have been sent to sub-divisional hospital in Kuchinda, police have begun an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident.
