Three Detained For Attack On Scribe In Puri

Puri: The Marine Police here on Saturday detained three persons in connection with the attack on a journalist at Beleswarpatna in Puri district the previous day.

One more attacker is still at large.

The victim has been identified as Bikram Acharya.

According to sources, Acharya was attacked by some miscreants while he was clicking pictures of an accident scene near Beleswarpatna on Puri-Konark marine drive. He sustained injuries on his head, chest and ear.

He was later rescued by police and admitted to Puri Sadar hospital in a critical condition.

Though the exact reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, it is being suspected to be the fallout of past enmity.

Meanwhile, police have launched a probe into the incident.

This is the third attack on journalists in Odisha in the past couple of weeks. The first incident was reported in the Odisha capital and second in Kendrapara.
