Nabarangpur: Three persons died and and a woman sustained injuries after a car in which they were travelling rammed into a roadside tree near Basini Square on Umerkote-Jharigaon main road in Odisha Nabarangpur district late on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Suresh Mondal of Chatabeda village in Raigarh, Gauranga Ray of Sonepur village and Satya Ranjan Bepari of Umerkote.
According to sources, the accident took place while the occupants of the care were returning home after attending a wedding at Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh around 1 am. The three persons died on the spot under the impact of the collision.
On being informed, Umerkote police along with the fire services personnel rushed to the spot and rushed the grievously injured woman, Swaralata Bepari, to a local hospital. She was later shifted to Nabarangpur district headquarters hospital.
It is being suspected that the person on wheels might have dosed off, leading to the crash.
