Jajpur: At least three persons were killed and six others critically injured after a pick-up van rammed into a truck on NH-53 at Charinangal Chhak in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Saturday. Among the deceased are two women. However, the deceased are yet to be identified.
Sources said, the van carrying dry fish was on way to Paradip from Chandikhole when hit an iron-laden stationary truck from the rear at Charinangal under Balichandrapur police limits.
As a result, one person sitting on the container of the pickup van died on the spot while eight others were grievously injured in the mishap.
On being informed, fire service personnel rescued the injured and rushed them to Barchana CHC. But all the injured were referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where two of them succumbed. The two deceased are said to be women hawking dry fish.
