Puri: Three gates of Jagannath temple in Puri will soon get a silver coating.
Sources in the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) said that for the silver draping of the Beharana gate in front of the Mukti Mandap, Jaya-Vijaya gate of Jagmohan and Kalahata gate near the sanctum sanctorum, a devotee has donated more than one quintal of silver.
The filigree design for the three gates is prepared by a group of silversmiths of Rajasthan, the sources added.
The sources further said that while the silver draping of the three gates will be done in the first phase, the silver draping of the west, north, south, Simhadwar as well as the outer and inner door of the Ratna Bhandar will be taken up in subsequent phases.
Prior to the draping, the doors of these gates will be replaced with new ones made of Burma teak wood.
